Tori has over a decade of experience supporting SMEs across the UK, Ireland, and South Africa. She leads the firm’s accounting and compliance functions, overseeing a high-performing team of qualified accountants who deliver bookkeeping, management reporting, VAT, payroll, year-end accounts, and advisory services to ambitious SMEs. Originally from South Africa and now based in the UK, Tori is passionate about supporting SMEs, developing people, and shaping modern finance functions that truly add value.

Ian co-established HVM more than 28 years ago, transforming a single Durban office into a cross-border advisory group. A registered Professional Accountant (SA) and UNISA graduate, he also holds an honours degree in Taxation. For the past decade and a half, he has focused on the SME sector, guiding owners through valuation, tax strategy, and growth funding with the meticulous insight that defi nes his practice. Ian measures success by the expansion of his clients’ enterprises and time spent travelling with his family, his most valued assets.

Bronwyn brings global perspective to HVM, backed by a BSc in Financial Markets and Derivatives earned in the United States and full South African stock-broker qualifications. After eight years in corporate finance, she launched her own independent advisory firm, which merged with HVM in 2022. Now overseeing the expanded Independent Financial Services arm, she channels deep market expertise into bespoke strategies for affluent families. Away from the boardroom, Bronwyn cultivates orchids and enjoys spending time with her family.

A Success Story – Ours and Yours

HVM was founded in 1997 when Ian McFarland and Dalton Hartley combined corporate rigour with entrepreneurial risk. Together, they had a deep understanding of the immediate needs of any business owner, and as a result, they aimed to build a firm catering to these needs whilst delivering the precise accounting, tax, and advisory support they themselves once needed. Client demand quickly extended beyond compliance. Entrepreneurs sought a growth partner who could assess the full balance sheet, business and personal, and convert financial data into an actionable strategy. HVM responded by broadening its services and expanding its professional team.

Expansion and Reach

In 2011, HVM Financial Services was established under wealth specialist Wesley Bowman. Additional depth was introduced in 2022 through a merger with Bronwyn Desplace’s Infinitous Wealth Solutions, strengthening the firm’s investment capabilities.

During 2022, the HVM Group decided to expand further, answering the call of loyal long standing clients who now required Global Accounting services. Marc and Tori joined the team and head up the UK and Ireland offices and services.

Today Ian, Wes and Bronwyn co-lead HVM Group, united by one commitment: Building Trust Globally, one relationship at a time. From a single office in KwaZulu-Natal, HVM has grown into a cross-border advisory firm operating in South Africa, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, providing world-class expertise, informed by local insight, wherever your ambitions take you.
